About three quarters of the queer community has had a mental issues in their lives. Dutch queer organisation COC reported that ‘homo’ is the most used swear word in Dutch schools. Queer youth are bullied four times more often and attempt suicide almost five times more often than average.
We are proud that this exhibition is part of the Eindhoven Pride Week.

Enjoy this special queer lecture (in Dutch) by artist educator Patrick Verhoeven. He currently works at Museum W as an art educator. He is also involved in art-theoretical research and has started the ‘queer beeldbank‘: a digital depository of works of art that shows the diversity within LGBTI+ art.
A lively afternoon with a pink mood starting with the question: what does make art queer art? And what’s your favorite (queer) art or artist. Meet some other art lovers and visit the exhibition.

This morning we open the exhibition with the group meditation ‘sensoride’. A hypnotic trip to your inner feelings, your inner voice. To discover what you feel. An intense and healing session, with music, sound, smells, taste and feelings.
You can experience Coen van Ham today in this workshop ‘sensoride’ in his role as a certified NLP coach, educated in hypnosis, organisational and family constellations and more.

An informal artist talk by art historian and curator Pim Hoff MA (in Dutch). Pim works as a fundraiser, curator and copywriter in the culture sector and wrote an introduction for the book ‘poetry of feelings’.
Pim talks with Coen about the project, backgrounds’, Van Hams paintings of nudes and the emotional layers beneath the skin. Next to the artistic influence of artists like Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud and Euan Uglow.

Coen van Ham
Coen van Ham (1971) is a Dutch painter, designer and inspirer. Visuals are his language, emotion is his narrative. In his work, he reflects on personal identity, human emotions and social value(s). Visuals are his language, emotion is his narrative. With his nude portraits, Coen van Ham follows in his own expressionist manner in the footsteps of great masters such as Willem de Kooning, Francis Bacon and Adrian Ghenie and others.
Tineke Abma
Prof. Dr. Tineke Abma is Professor of Art and Healthcare at Erasmus School of Health Policy and Management. She is also a professor of Geriatric Participation at Leiden University Medical Centre and Executive Director of Leyden Academy on Vitality and Ageing. Her work has been recognised with the Crebolder Award for its social impact on citizens, organisation and policy. She has published books and prolifically in scientific journals, on the positive effect of art on physical and mental health.
Pim Hoff
Pim Hoff MA (1987) studied history and art history and specialised in post-1945 social economic history and pre-1650 arts and crafts, and career-wise also in contemporary visual arts. He works as a fundraiser, curator and copywriter in the culture sector. He also occasionally acts as an art dealer for private buyers and in the art trade. Hoff has contributed to several publications by contemporary artists.
Patrick Verhoeven
Patrick Verhoeven (1975) developed his expertise in the cultural field as an art educator. He looks for opportunities to make art appreciation accessible. This has led, among other things, to the ‘Art Viewing’ project. He currently works at Museum W as an art educator. He is also involved in art-theoretical research and has started the ‘queer image bank’: a digital depository of works of art that shows the diversity within LGBTI+ art.
Rick van Strien
Rick van Strien (1990) was born in Zundert and studied at the Stedelijk Instituut voor Sierkunsten en Ambachten (SISA) in Antwerp, Belgium, and at the St. Joost School of Art and Design in Breda, Netherlands, from which he graduated in 2016. Rick lives and works in Meppel (Drenthe, Netherlands). During a session lasting twelve hours, artist Rick van Strien found Coen’s personal shade. Coen chose that soft, fleshy and tangible warm pink as the basic colour for this project and book.
Siem Maasdijk
Siem Maasdijk is a young and talented Dutch creative and movie maker. He created for example the introduction movie for the project ‘poetry of feelings’ and was your daily personal guide during the exhibition.
At this moment Siem creates a short documentary of this project. An interview with Coen van Ham about backgrounds, choices and above all: feelings.
